Portfolio - Improvement

Over the past two years, I have learned more, its not like I'm going to get dumber. My reading, writting, speaking, and group work skills have all improved over the last two years. Except my technology skills, I didn't know  much about computers I only knew the basics but being in Ms.Priesters calss I had to learn how to manage the computer better. I improved my skills more more by practicing and doing my homework. To improve my academic skills during the next two years and beyond I should keep doing what I'm doing but with more effort.

Portfolio - Future

My goals for the future are to at least get my High School Diploma. After that Im just going to live life, find a decent job and go with the flow. I want to live my life without problems and just have a regular life without worring about anything. Most people want a good job, a nice house, and a wealthy life but I dont need all that. I just need the basic things in life to live and be happy. My main goal is to be happy. In order to achieve my goals I have to stay out of trouble and at least have a High School Diploma. I genuinely belive that I can achieve my goals because I'm sure that I'm in the right direction to achieve my goals right now while other people are worring about if their grades are good enough to go to college or what other people put in their heads and tring to live their dreams when dreams dont come true and when they dont achieve their goals they feel like failures.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Obstacle

It was 2011 at San Pasqual Academy. I met my English teacher, Ms.Priestrer. As soon as I met her I thought that I wouldn't get along with her. I wasn't use to doing all my class work on the computers. I had to learn how to work the computer better. Getting along with Ms. Priester and her technology expectaitions where two obstacles that I had to deal with during the last two school years.

Comment-Seeking Post

Yesterday I got into an argument with house parents. The tell me to do stuff that Im not supposed to, so when I do it they give consequences, for technacly following their directions. That got me mad and should've say and done things that I did, but I have to stand up for my self and not let my self get pushed around. For my behaviors I got three days restriction but I think thats a litle bit over the top because they exagerated and it was'nt really a big deal untill they made it.

I think it is wrong because that only Caucasian men had a sucessful past or inspirational quotes. Its disrespectful only putting Caucasian men on our walls because its like saying that African Americans, Latinos, or other races dod'nt inspire them or make an impact in their lives. I think that they should put people of different races in our halls to show that other people besides Caucasian have inspirational quotes.

CST Testing Reflection

Testing was boring but I only liked that we did'nt have all of our classes. I think the only tests that I had a trouble was the World History and the Math test. It was because I did'nt get enough sleep. The other tests were easier so I think I did better. I usually do alright in these tests but I think I did bad, most of the question I answered with an educated guess. I just felt real tired and bored duuring the first two tests.

Testing Tips, Strategies, and Plays Reflection

Knowing tips, strategies, and plays help me on testing because tips are like advices to help you do better on the test, or they're like little instructions so you can a better way of testing. Strategies are helpfull because the way you take the test matters also. Its better if you have special ways to better your score. Plays can help on testing by giving you a little "movie" to help you know the material a little better. Its like writting a book report on the movie of the book.

Free Choice Blog Post

During the weekend I went on pass I spent most of my time with my brother and his friends. It was fun, I rather be on pass than be on campuss.  Staying  this weekend was important for me but I wanted to go to the T.J semetary to visit my grandmother because I have'nt visited her in four years. While I was in T.J I wanted to come back over here. Overall my pass was good but I think it would've been better if I had stayed.

Playwrights Project Inspired by Music Paragraph

In class today Ms. Olivia made us listen to songs and afterwards think of the characters and the "at rise" that fit the theme of the song. At first I taught that this was going to be easy. While listening to the music, I felt like falling asleep and it was very hard for me to imagine a scene and characters for each different song. While I was writting, I had trouble coming up with ideas. Afterward, I felt stupid because I could'nt think of anything.

Third Quarter Awards Review

There was an assembly at the audotorium on friday for the awards. The thing that was surprising me was that  most of the awards were for the girls and rarely any for the guys. It kind of made the guys look like as if we were dumb. The only part I actually enjoyed was Tamarquis and Kyhree in the back row, that was the only part that I liked t he rest wzas boring. I noticed that the people that won an award were winnig multiple awards. I think the next award assembly is going to be the same, boring, long, and the same people are going to win the awards.

My focus question is "How was the world created?" I already know that according  to scientist the whole universe was created by all the energy and matter was contained at one point was not an notexplosion but a event filling all of space with all of the particles of the embryonic universe rushing away from each other according to Edwin Hubble. I also know that according to the christian belief that the whole world was created by the word of God. Since God is almighty he can use any means, He wishes to bring something into being such as the forming of humans into earth from the earth. Additionally the two answers have different ideas and beliefs. By doing research, I hope to learn the real answer or more about these beliefs.

“Switch” Play Audience Member Experience

My experience as an audience at the Playwrights Project Project play “Switch” was sort of entertaining and insulting in a way. Some parts of the play were offensive but it wasn't to insult us, it was only to show that people that are not in the foster system have an idea how a kids feel being in the foster system without actually going through the system. I was glad that they made this play because they actually showed what really goes on in a life of a foster child, so people wont label us whatever they want to label us. At the end of the play I was surprised that some of the actors didn't have anything to do with the foster system because their acting was as if they were foster kids before. Overall I liked parts of the play but I still think that plays are LAME.

I interviewed my house parent and he said that usually you can tell that  a website is a good resource to write a research paper because the website will give credit to those who he got the information from and or helped write the research paper. I also interviewed my other house parent and she said that usually you can tell that its a  website is a good resource to write a research paper because usually  its a  secondary source, so more peolpe can better and more information than one person. I interviewed a upperclassmen and she said that a website can be good for research paper if the person who wrote it is a well known writer or specializes in the topic he or she is writting on and not just a random person giving their opinion that dosn't know what he's talking about.

I have to write a whole poem about two words that sound the same but have different meanings, it was due on friday. I dont know what to write about, I wish I knew what to write. I dont know if I should wether write a tale or about the weather, theres too many options. Im getting frustrated, this is not my kind of homework. If we had one week or two maybe even four weeks to finish this assingment so I can complete it and turn it in for partial credit.

Fourth Quarter Kickoff Reflection

I think the fouth quarter kickoff was a waste of time for me because first of all i did'nt even enjoy it. i did'nt like any of the sports that were played. It would've been better if we had no school that day, and I dont like playing sports with certain people because some people take the game a little to seriousand overcompetitive. It gets annoying.

Fourth Quarter Goals

I don't have a greatest accomplishment the last semester, I got a thirty percent for my grade. My goal for this quarter is actually doing my homework this time and not turning homework in late. I will check the homework everyday. I will have to complete every assignment and turn in the url's for every blog post not like last semester.

What I Learned in the Third Quarter of English 10

In english 10 i didn't learned much because I was new to the class. I learned like symbolism and allegory. I also learned about imagery, figurative language, primary source, and secondary source. The thing I learned a lot about is poetry, didn't know anything about poetry untill I was in Ms. Priesters class.

I can relate to the "Grape Sherbet" poem because I also have some memories of my father together.The phrases that help me imagine this poem are the title.Imagery helps the reader to have a mental picture in their min so while they are reading something they kind of have an idea of what the place looks like in the story or how a character looks like.

feeling abou the cahsee

In order to pass the Cahsee this year I need study a lot especially the math part of the Cahsee because math is one of my weakest subjects.  I  need to practice writing my essays because I'm not sure how to rally write a proper five paragraph essay. But the rest I'm sure that I will pass, like the multiple choice questions.

We should comment on freshmen's blog posts because it might be good to know what kind of homework they are doing and its good to let them know when they did good on their homework assingments.You should also comment on their blogs so if they made a mistake then they know what not to do and keep them from doing it the next time.

Cahsee reflection

My reflection on my peers that took the test are much like my own reflection if I would have taken that test. I think all of my peers did good on a Cahsee or did good because the only thing that was hard for them was the assay part of the test. I think the majority of the class is going to pass the Cahsee with a good grade and there might be a small amount of my peers that barely didn't pass it.

I dont have memorable Valentine's Day because I think In order to realy remember one special day you have to be with that one spacial someone, some one you love.I never loved anyone thats why my valentine's aren't memorable.Its just like any nother day, nothing special.

After reading "The Legend" the point I believe the author was trying to make is that random violence is senseless because that boy just killed that innocent man for no reason.I think the author is trying to teach the readers that there are rpeolpe in the world that really dont care about anything an they will do anything they want.

Primary Source is one person wrights about something because they saw it happend or its about them, and they are the only ones that wrote it and they did not get any help from anybody else.Secondary source a group of people that brainstorm write somrthing but they wernt there, they heard it from somebody and they write about it.Secondary source also has several point of views.Primary and Secondary sources are helpful because its agood way to find out information.

Fellings about the cahsee

My feelings about this experience are Im not nervous but at the same time I am because if I don't pass it I wouln't be able to graduate from High School.From what I have heard, the Cahsee is easy and some say it was hard but I'm not so good at English, so I'm kind of worried about it.I hope I do good on it or as long as I pass it.

      If  I had chance to change the world I wouldn't change anything because I think the world is doing good right now and besides what if I change something that is really important, then it well affect the world in a bad way.
For example what if  I changed the something the world needed like police or the president then the world would just fall apart and wouldn't survive.If I had a chance to change the world I would not change anything, I think the wouldn't survive with my changes that I would make, it would just make the world more corrupt.

 In the poem "Heart! We will forget him!" the speaker in the poem speaks directly to her heart as if it were another person, a possible reason she talks to her heart seperately could be she dosent have anyone else to talk to or could be she still has feelings for him in her heart and shes telling the heart to forget about him.I think she got dumped by a guy, thats why she is heart broken.Personification is when you give a nonliving thing traits of a humanbeing.She is using personafication towards her heart by speaking to it as if it was a real person.There is not a way I can relate to this poem.

An example of Imagery is when you are reading something and you get a mental picture in your mind when your reading the story.One sense is sight,if someone is describing something you can imagine what they are talking about.Onother sense is touche,like if somebody is discribing how something feels than maybe you can get an idea of how it feels.Onother one is hearing,if thers a noise or somebody is talking a certain way than you can determine what it sounds like.The use of Imagery helps me expresse my feelings by naking you think how you feel or see about something.

"A nimal Farm"Character Symbolic meaning Paragrph

In the story"Animal Farm"by George Orwell,the character Squealer represents a coward and a kissup.For example every time Napolean says something or gives a comand to all the animals in the farm Squealer will always agree with Napoleanand for everything. Squealer is a coward because in the story "Animal Farm" Napolean and squealer hide from everybody else. This shows that Squealer looks up to Napolean because hes like the boss. In addition this also shows that Napolean and squealer are not brave.People who are cowards and kissups are going to go far in life and probally wont have a lot of friends.

I dont realy like studiying poetry because I think theres no point to it,but I dont mine studiying it if its going to teach me something.I know that there is different types of poetry like not all poems have to rhyme,some are short and some are longand poems can be just about anything you want. Yes I have studied poetry in the past in my English classes. No I dont read poetry for fun because I dont like to read. During this unit I hope to learned how to understand poems faster than I usually do,and learn words I dont know so I can understand the poem better.

"Through the Tunnel" Comprehension Paragraph

I dont think the story is convincing that Jerry takes such a risk like he did in the story and still suvived. I think that if he really attempted that dive in real life he wouldnt probally survived. I think he survived that dive because its only a story,and if Jerry happend to die during that risky dive then the story wouldnt have a continuation to the story to the story and the story would end.

Symbolism and Allegory Unit Reflection

Over the past weeks I learned nothing because it dirint catch my attention. Instead I choose to I tried to catch my other homework that I didn't do. I think symbolism is an object or a word that represents something.I really didn't understand allegory, but we read "Animal Farm" in order to understand it. In the story, the animals represented either something good or something bad. I did not have a favorite assignment. Allegory and symbolism didn't change my thinking.

Through the Tunnel

The experience occurred San Ysidro High School.In order to wrestle at San Ysidro I had to maintain a minimum grade point average of  2.5 or  I  wouldnt  be able to compete.To get my grades up i had stay after school every day for tutoring,study every day,and pass my tests witch kept me from going to practice.
